2013 Celebration of excellence
Our Tenth Annual Celebration of Excellence Dinner was on May 23, 2013 at Lake of Isles.
The Distinguished Alumni Speaker was Bob Reed, LHS class of 1976.
Bob Reed is a proud graduate of Ledyard High School’s Class of 1976. Following high school Bob attended Roger Williams College majoring in Business Management. After college Bob worked in Newport, RI in the hotel business holding a number of positions at what was then the Sheraton Islander Hotel on Goat Island. Bob came home to Connecticut in 1981 and started work at Radio Stations WICH/WCTY in the sales department. For the past 32 years Bob has held sales and marketing positions with WICH, Inc. which is owned by Florida based Hall Communications, Inc., and is currently Station Manager of WICH AM, WCTY‐FM, WNLC‐FM and WKNL‐FM. Bob is active in the Eastern Connecticut community and has served on numerous boards and committees, most recently as Vice President of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Vice President of the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Norwich, Board of Corporators at Norwich Free Academy, and Dime Bank. Bob has served as President of the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce and the Norwich Rotary Club. In 2001 Bob was invested in the Order of Malta, the oldest lay order of the Roman Catholic Church, and in 2007 received the “Citizen of the Year” award from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut. Bob lives in Norwich with his wife of 27 years, Mary Reed. His interests include travel, playing and collecting acoustic guitars, and missionary work, especially with Dr. Jerry Lowney’s Haitian Health Foundation where Bob has made eight visits.
